Important Notice: Our butchery is currently closed

Dear customers, due to staffing reasons our traditional butchery is currently closed until further notice. At the moment there are no sales, no production, no slaughtering and no party service.

This decision was not easy for us. It is necessary so that we can reliably maintain our hotel operations. We thank you very much for your loyalty and understanding.

Our hotel remains open. For room enquiries and arrivals, please contact us by phone.

Our craft tradition since 1785

The traditional Goldener Ochsen in Goeppingen-Hohenstaufen looks back on more than 241 years of history and is one of the long-established houses in the region.

As early as 1785, the “Ochsen” was documented as an inn with butchery and agriculture. The estate once included its own well, stables, barn, fields, meadows and orchards. Slaughtering and the production of sausage specialties were part of the house for generations.

A central part of this tradition was the in-house slaughterhouse with an elevated cattle rail. Meat and sausage products, ham specialties, offal, cold cuts, cheese and selected groceries were offered on site for many years.

Historical note: The house also had its own agriculture for a long time. This agricultural activity ended in 1960; from then on, the meadows and fields were leased out.

Specialties and assortment

Historically, the butchery stood for homemade sausage and ham varieties, meat specialties, tinned sausages and direct regional sourcing. The short route from farmer to counter was an important part of the house tradition.

In addition to meat and sausage products, the range included cold cuts, cheese, hot counter items and prepared dishes made to order. Today, this page primarily serves as an information page about our tradition and the current closure notice.
