Ideal Starting Point for Hiking Enthusiasts:

Our hotel is a perfect starting point for hiking enthusiasts looking to explore the Hohenstaufen summit – a destination that can be comfortably reached on foot in about 20 minutes.

At the top, a spectacular panoramic view of the idyllic Fils and Rems valleys awaits you. The Hohenstaufen Mountain, an impressive witness mountain with a height of 684 meters, forms the westernmost elevation of the Three Emperor Mountains, picturesquely situated between the Rems Valley to the north and the Fils Valley to the south.

The name “Staufen” originates from the old term “Stauf,” which describes a pointed, conical mountain.

Hohenstaufen Castle Ruins:

The Hohenstaufen Castle Ruins, once the ancestral castle of the powerful Staufer dynasty, sit atop the prominent Hohenstaufen Mountain in the heart of Stauferland.

Today, only remnants of the once-proud hilltop castle remain, offering a fascinating glimpse into history.

Built around 1070 by Duke Friedrich I of Swabia, the castle was a significant center of medieval power and politics.

Spielburg Nature Reserve:

The Spielburg, a striking rock formation on the southwestern slope of the Hohenstaufen, is part of a protected nature reserve in Goeppingen.

It impresses with its geological history and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and landscapes.

With its unique flora and fauna, the Spielburg is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.

The uniquely scenic and highly popular heath-like dry biotope “Spielburg Nature Reserve” is part of the Hohenstaufen district and is a favored local recreation area.

A special tip is the hike along the Lion's Path Spielburg Loop, a certified 3.5-kilometer route connecting the Spielburg with Goeppingen’s local mountain.

This certified tour is ideal for families and those who wish to enjoy nature at a leisurely pace.

Waescherburg:

The Waescherburg (also known as Waescherschloss or Waescherschloessle) in Waescherhof, a district of Waeschenbeuren (Goeppingen district, Baden-Wuerttemberg), was built between 1220 and 1250.

At 436 meters above the Beutental, the hilltop castle offers a clear view of the Hohenstaufen.

Lorch Monastery:

The Lorch Monastery is situated on a ridge in the picturesque Rems Valley, located between Stuttgart and Aalen.

The expansive complex with its characteristic ring wall bears witness to the impressive legacy of the once-powerful Staufer family.

The surrounding area offers countless opportunities for hiking and cycling tours, catering to all levels of ability.

The region is also ideal for multi-day tours, promising unforgettable nature experiences.
